Dear Parent/Carer
Year 9 Chromebook Device Return
The Halley Academy is committed to delivering a comprehensive digital strategy to all students. As part of this, you will be aware that all students are issued a loaned electronic device to support their academic progress. Your child is approaching the end of Year 9 and is about to embark on their two-year GCSE programme. To ensure their Chromebook is up-to-date with necessary software programmes and in good working order, we will ask your child to return their Chromebook and charger to us before the end of module 6. At the start of Year 10 in September 2024, they will be given a new Chromebook and charger at no cost to you. Any work students must complete over the summer as they transition from Year 9 to Year 10 will be given on paper copies.
Students will be asked to return their Chromebook and charger on Friday 12th July during the school day. Students must not return their Chromebooks before Friday 12th July as they will be using them in lessons up to this date. The subsequent week is Cultural Capital Week where students will engage in cultural learning activities and will not need to use their devices.
If the Chromebook and charger are not returned on this date there will be a charge of £50. This will be charged to your child’s ParentPay and will need to be paid before a new device and charger can be issued in September 2024.
If, for any reason, your child will not be in school on Friday 12th July, they must arrange for the Chromebook and charger to be returned to their small school ahead of this date.
If you have any questions about the return process, please contact your child’s small school.
Yours faithfully,
Ms I Ruthven | Deputy Head of Franklin School
