Dress Code

All students within the Sixth Form at Leigh Academy Halley are role models to the rest of the academy.  

The dress code within the Sixth Form is smart business dress.  This is to support students in developing personal and professional habits as they prepare to enter the world of work.

Students may choose from the following:

  • Formal business suit
  • Professional jacket
  • Professional trousers
  • Professional knee/ankle-length skirt
  • Professional knee/ankle-length dress
  • Smart plain jumper
  • Smart plain cardigan
  • Smart collared shirt
  • Smart blouse or similar top
  • Tie*
  • Bow tie*
  • Formal shoes

*Please note that a tie or bow tie is compulsory for students who identify as male.

The following items are prohibited:

  • Jeans
  • Mini skirts
  • Cropped tops
  • Hooded tops
  • Trainers
  • High heels

It is essential that standards are upheld and checks will take place throughout the academic year.  Students who arrive incorrectly dressed may be sent home to change.

Accessories

Students may also wear:

  • One pair of small stud earrings
  • One small nose piercing
  • One ring
  • One wristwatch (please note smartwatches are not permitted in exams)

The following items are prohibited for health and safety:

  • Acrylic nails
  • Large hooped earrings

Students enrolled in the Football Academy will have Leigh Academy Halley kit and will be expected to follow the Sixth Form dress code on days they are not training.
