Post-16 Results Day 2024

The Halley Academy Post-16 Results image

We are thrilled to celebrate the exceptional achievements of The Halley Academy’s students in their KS5 results. They not only mark the culmination of a successful academic journey, but also build upon the remarkable progress demonstrated in July’s IB results, where the number of students achieving grades 4+ increased by 19%, and the number of courses taken rose by 30%.

Our students have continued to excel, with almost half of all engineering and business grades at Distinction. We achieved our best ever sets of results for our technical levels, and our results for applied general courses have remained consistently strong and stable in the face of higher grade boundaries this year. Pleasingly, we secured our highest ever pass rate, with 98% of all vocational courses being awarded grades, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.

Special congratulations go to:

  • Christian, who achieved D*D* in engineering, H5 in IB physics, S6 in IB maths, and an A in the reflective project enabling him to head to the University of Warwick to read automotive engineering;
  • Mykyta, who joined us in Year 12 from Ukraine and obtained both his maths and English GCSEs before then successfully gaining a Distinction in business, S6 in IB maths and Merit in ICT; and
  • Zoya who will be studying criminology at the University of Kent after achieving an A in criminology, H4 in biology, H6 in psychology and B in her reflective project.

We are equally proud to celebrate the diverse and exciting range of destinations our students are heading towards. This year, our graduates will be embarking on courses at prestigious universities such as the University of Nottingham, the University of Warwick, and the University of Kent. Their chosen fields of study are as impressive as they are varied, including law, aerospace and mechanical engineering, forensic science, nursing, politics, and more. Additionally, some students are pursuing highly sought-after apprenticeships in law and marketing, further demonstrating the breadth of ambition within our cohort.

Mr Russell, Principal, commented when receiving results with students today:

“We could not be more delighted that all of our students’ hard work has paid off. We could not be more proud as an academy community. These results are a real testament to the great teaching, personalised pastoral care and the aspirational learning environment we have here at the Halley.”

Mr Cowie, Head of Sixth Form, said:

“These outstanding results speak to the resilience and commitment of our students, and we are immensely proud of their accomplishments.”

We look forward to seeing our students continue to thrive in their future endeavours as they progress into the world of further study and employment.
