Outstanding IB Results: A Testament to Our Students’ Excellence

We are delighted and very proud to announce that our year 13 International Baccalaureate (IB) results for 2024, released on the 8th July, have proven to be our strongest set yet.

These exceptional outcomes underscore how our rigorous and robust academic qualifications are going from strength-to-strength at the Academy, and how we’re delivering excellent outcomes for our students as part of the IB Careers-Related Programme.

Over 80% of grades were at or above the international average, a significant increase from previous years. Our average grade was higher 4, above average international comparisons. Furthermore, those attaining a grade 6 or higher, the top grades, have risen to an impressive 15%.

Mr Russell, Principal, when collecting the results with Year 13 students, commented: “on behalf of the entire Halley community, we could not be more delighted with these results, reflecting our students’ dedication and hard work, and the unwavering support of our staff”.

Adding to this success, this Year 13 cohort was our largest yet, with more students than ever enrolling in these demanding academic courses. Mr Cowie, Head of Hawking School, Assistant Principal, noted: “This growth, and these results, signifies our commitment to offering comprehensive, rigorous and challenging programmes that prepare our students successfully for their future endeavours”. Next year, for example, the Academy will further add to its IB sixth form offer with IB chemistry and IB geography.

Particular standout achievements include:

  • Cristhian achieved excellent grades of 5 and 6 in both IB physics and IB maths respectively;
  • Eleonora obtained 5 and 6 in IB history and IB English;
  • Mary and Zoya both achieved excellent results of 6 in IB psychology;
  • Iqra A and Sindy M both with 6s in IB English language and literature;
  • Marius and Mykyta both achieved grade 6 in IB maths.

Whilst we eagerly await the rest of our vocational level 3 results in August, which will determine our students’ final university and apprenticeship offers, we are delighted to share these early successes with our community. We congratulate all our IB students for their remarkable accomplishments and look forward to celebrating even more triumphs in the coming weeks.
