Dear Parent/Carer,
Subject: Year 12 & 13 External Examinations – w/c Monday 8th January 2024
From Tuesday 9th January to Tuesday 23rd January, our Year 12 and 13 students that are enrolled in the following BTEC courses will be undergoing a series of external examinations: Applied Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology, Sports Studies and Business Studies. These assessments are integral to determining the final grades for your child’s respective vocational course.
The examinations will be conducted in the Academy’s main hall, adhering strictly to the standards and conditions set by the Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ), therefore attendance, punctuality and correct equipment for each exam are critical.
For the days when students do not have examinations, we expect them to follow their regular timetable as well as meet our Sixth Form dress code and expectations.
As we approach this important time, we advise students to prioritise their well-being: adequate rest, a balanced diet, and open communication about any stress or anxiety they may be experiencing are crucial. We encourage you to continue to provide the necessary support and motivation to your child during this time and leading up to the final examinations in the summer.
Should you feel that your child requires additional support or if you have any enquiries regarding these examinations, please do not hesitate to contact Hawking School.
Kindly find attached a copy of the examination timetable. The Academy strongly urges your child to fully prepare for these examinations, utilising all available learning resources accessible through their Google Classroom. Please note that exams scheduled at the same time will be catered for by our exams team.
Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support
Yours faithfully,
Mr James Cowie
Head of Hawking School
