Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 8 ‘A Christmas Carol’ Theatre Trip – Monday 18th November 2024
An exciting opportunity has arisen for our Year 8 cohort to see the production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Monday 18th November 2024 at The Old Vic Theatre. The MYP encourages students to see a range of live theatrical performances so they can confidently analyse play scripts and live theatre productions. A Christmas Carol is studied by Year 8 across Module Two, therefore this is an exciting opportunity for our students to enrich their learning and see the text studied in school performed live on stage.
We will travel to the theatre by train, leaving Kidbrooke Station at 6pm to Waterloo East Station where we will walk to the theatre. Students should therefore be dropped off at Kidbrooke Station by 5.30pm, at the latest. The performance begins promptly at 7:30pm and lasts approximately 2 hours including a 20 minute interval. We anticipate returning to Kidbrooke Station at approximately 10:15pm. Given the time, students must not make their own way home. All students should be collected from Kidbrooke Station by parents/carers at 10.15pm. Please indicate on this Google Form the adult who will be collecting your child. All students are expected to attend the Academy by 8.25am on Tuesday 19th November.
To secure a place for your child on this trip, a full payment of £20 should be made via ParentPay, before Friday 18th October 2024. Partial payments will not guarantee your child a place on this trip. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. This price includes the performance and train travel to and from the theatre. If your child would like to bring some additional money to purchase a snack/beverage during the interval, please ensure they have this with them on the day.
Yours faithfully,
Miss Kathryn Thompson | Coordinator of Learning (English)
