Dear Parent/Carer,
Andorra Ski Trip – Saturday 22nd March to Saturday 29th March 2025
Kingswood Residential Trip – Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July 2025
Across the academic year, Leigh Academy Halley runs several residential trips to locations in the United Kingdom and to international cities. Two trips available to Year 7 students this year are a week-long skiing trip in Andorra and a residential trip to the Kingswood Centre on the Isle of Wight.
The Andorra ski trip will take place in the resort of Pal Arinsal and runs from Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th March 2025. There are a limited number of spaces available to book, and for this reason, the booking process will be different from that of other trips; there will be strict caveats in place for those wishing to attend. The ski trip will cost £1,270 and is inclusive of the following:
- 8 days – 7 nights duration.
- Hotel Sant Gothard, Pal Arinsal for 5 nights – half-board. Half board consists of breakfast and lunch. Money is needed to pay for dinner.
- Ski tuition fees, 4 hours a day for 5 days.
- 5-day ski lift pass.
- Skis, boots & helmet rental.
- Evening entertainments – bowling & soft drinks, shopping in Andorra La Vella and ice skating.
- Travel by ferry and then by executive coach, to and from Andorra. The coach will collect from and return the group to Leigh Academy Halley.
- Comprehensive Travel Insurance (including medical insurance).
The total price will be divided into 5 instalments of £220, following an initial non-refundable deposit of £170. This price does not include ski clothing such as jackets, salopettes, gloves, and other clothing needed for this activity. Each instalment, at each stage, is non-refundable.
The other trip that is available for Year 7 students is held at the end of Module 6. This is a residential trip for Year 7 students to the Kingswood Activity Centre, Isle of Wight, from Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July 2025 as part of our Cultural Capital Week.
Kingswood Activity Centre, Isle of Wight, has 40 years experience in managing and leading activities and events. It is a complete indoor and outdoor education facility and will provide an educational and enjoyable week where students will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities. An example of some of the activities available to students are:
- Climbing
- Archery
- Jacobs Ladder
- Zip Wire
- Climbing
- Camp Fire
- Low Ropes
- Aero Ball
- Orienteering
The price per student is £500.00. Included in this price is:
- Return travel by coach.
- A full programme of adventure activities.
- Full board and accommodation.
- Fully comprehensive insurance (details available on request).
The only additional cost will be pocket money, provided at parent/carer discretion. The total cost of this trip will be divided into 5 instalments of £80, following an initial non-refundable deposit of £100. Each instalment, at each stage, is non-refundable.
As both of these exciting residentials are offered as reward trips (due to the trip taking place during term time), your child’s place will be dependent on the criteria detailed overleaf being met:
- Attendance must exceed 95%. Periods of illness caused by covid or other medical needs may be taken into account.
- Students must be on target in the majority of subjects and if this is not the case they must be engaged with relevant interventions/homework to move towards their targets. Students who are not reaching their target grade may attend the trip if staff acknowledge that the student is working hard in all their lessons.
- Students must have a good behaviour record with minimal behaviour points and no severe sanctions such as referrals to The Compass or suspensions. An accumulation of sanctions such as Academy Leadership Team detentions will also result in students not being able to attend the trip.
If you would like your child to attend either of these trips, please visit your ParentPay account to make a deposit payment.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Academy if you have any questions about these trips.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs H. Panton | Deputy Head of Turing School
